Ciarán Mac Fheidhlimidh (Uilleann Pipes)
Ciarán MacFheidhlimidh is from Lifford in Co. Donegal. He learned most of his early music from Strabane piper and whistle player, Noel Devine. Ciarán, who began learning the pipes at 12, has been influenced by the piping of Robbie Hannan, Séamus Ennis and Willie Clancy. He also has a great interest in fiddle music and the various regional fiddle playing styles. Ciarán has performed at events and festivals all over Ireland and is much sought after, both as teacher and performer.

Liz & Yvonne Kane (Fiddles)
From North Connemara, Liz and Yvonne Kane, known as The Kane Sisters, are much respected musicians and educators. Born in Letterfrack, they were educated in Kylemore Abbey School. They were taught music by their grandfather, local fiddle player, Jimmy Mullen and Mary Finn, a Co.Sligo musician and teacher.
Liz and Yvonne first came to national and international prominence during the three year period in which they toured with accordion player, Sharon Shannon as members of her band, The Woodchoppers. They travelled all over the world with her band and are featured artists on Sharon’s album ‘The Diamond Mountain Sessions’. At that time, a Hot Press review by Siobhan Long confirmed ‘...while 'Fire in their Bellies' (with Liz and Yvonne Kane) is ensemble playing at its best and most naked.'
Following this period of touring with Sharon Shannon, the girls decided to embark musically on their own and they recorded their first album together entitled ‘The Well Tempered Bow’ which received rave reviews. The Kane Sisters toured Ireland and the United States following the release of their first album and this followed with a second album entitled ‘Under the Diamond’ in 2004.
Based in Letterfrack currently, Liz and Yvonne teach music during the school year and tour in the US during the summer. Between them, they have close to 200 students and travel all over the west coast teaching music.
Their latest album ‘Side by Side’ was launched in July 2010 at The Catskills Irish Festival in East Durham, NY and followed by a two week tour with concertina player Edel Fox.

Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde (Songs)
Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde, from the northwest Gaeltacht of Donegal, has been immersed in the culture of the area from a young age. This area, which is the last Gaelic speaking area in Ulster, preserves not only the Donegal sean-nós songs but also songs from all over Ulster. As a young singer his main influences were Caitlín Ní Dhomhnaill, Lillis Ó Laoire, Áine Bn. Uí Laoi, Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh and his mother Nellie Nic Giolla Bhríde.
Doimnic studied music at university and now works as a full-time musician. He has released three highly commended CDs, Saol na Suáilce (solo CD), Siansaí (choir CD) and Guaillimh a’ chéile (CD with Scottish sean-nós singer Griogair Labhruidh). Recently he published a book and CD for children Ící Pící. The promotion of the sean-nós tradition is his greatest motivation and as well as teaching sean-nós, Doimnic is the director of two sean-nós choirs, Cór Thaobh a’ Leithid from Donegal, which he founded, and the Belfast choir, Cór Loch Laoi. In 2009 he won the prestigious Corn Uí Riada, the highest accolade in Ireland for sean-nós singers.

Na Píobairí Uilleann (NPU), the Society of Uilleann Pipers was founded in 1968 at grassroots level by pipers with the aim of protecting a threatened art form. Now, 40 years later, NPU is a thriving arts organisation with thousands of members worldwide, dedicated to servicing the aims and needs of pipers worldwide. It is an ambition of NPU’s to establish the uilleann pipes as the iconic instrument of Ireland in the 21st century. Since unveiling its restored Georgian premises at
15 Henrietta Stin January 2007, NPU has been busy catering for the expanding demand for regular tuition as well as releasing a number of significant publications and recordings. With demand for pipes exceeding supply considerably, a dedicated course in pipe-making is currently being finalised while NPU’s commitment to tuition, both on a weekly basis at its premises and internationally, continues to grow, along with its public performance programme.
